Kabir Khan Films’ latest venture Tubelight is about to complete its 2 weeks journey but still away from 118 cr mark on domestic box office. The movie had huge hype among audience before the release but unfortunately failed to impress audience. It has received negative reviews from most of the critics and low star ratings. Despite all this, the outcome is really embarrassing and disappointing as well. Generally movies which rake 110-120 cr at box office, consider as hit but not in case of such highly budgeted and star powered movie Tubelight.
In its opening week, this Kabir Khan’s directorial war drama had reported overall good response but witnessed abrupt falls in its business. It had made the collection of 106.86 cr across India, that includes 64.77 cr of weekend and 42.09 cr of weekdays. In its second week, Tubelight has lost most of its hold over audience and raked only 8.25 cr in the second weekend, that includes 2.15 cr of Friday, 2.84 cr of Saturday and 3.26 cr of Sunday.
Now once again it is running in weekdays and as last week witnessing very low. With gradual drops in its occupancy as well as in business, it minted the amount of 1.30 crore on Monday and 1.05 cr on Tuesday. On the next day i.e. Wednesday it faced slight more drop and added the amount of 0.75 cr to its account. At the end of its 13th day, total domestic collection of Tubelight is recorded as 118.21 cr.
Directed by Kabir Khan, the film was termed ‘un-Salman’ by critics thanks to its story. It is an emotional story of sibling love, set in the backdrop of 1962 Indo-Sino war. Adapted from the America film, Little Boy the film also stars Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, child actor Matin Rey Tangu and late actor Om Puri in lead roles.
