Superstar Salman Khan’s latest offering, the very much awaited war drama film ‘Tubelight‘ has failed to perform up to the expectations. Despite massive hype and heavy promotions it has lost almost all its hold over audience. From critics also, it got mixed reviews and low star ratings. As a result, remained flat over the opening weekend and witnessed abrupt drops after that.
In the opening week on 4350 screens of India, Tubelight reported overall good response and did the business of 106.86 cr, that includes 64.77 cr of weekend and 42.09 cr of weekdays. Due to initial buzz, it has emerged as second highest opener and opening weekend grosser of 2017 so far.
In a week of release, the hype of Tubelight has been settled down and it raked the business of only 8.25 cr in its second weekend, that includes 2.15 cr of Friday, 2.84 cr of Saturday and 3.26 cr of Sunday. Now once again, Tubelight has entered in weekdays and started getting very low response.
On Monday with considerable drop it minted the amount of 1.30 cr as its 11th day collection. On the next day i.e. Tuesday with slight more drop, it added the amount of 1.05 cr to its account and make it 12 days domestic total as 117.46 cr.
Directed by Kabir Khan, the film was termed ‘un-Salman’ by critics thanks to its story. It is an emotional story of sibling love, set in the backdrop of 1962 Indo-Sino war. Adapted from the America film, Little Boy the film also stars Sohail Khan, Zhu Zhu, child actor Matin Rey Tangu and late actor Om Puri in lead roles.
