After Dhoom (2004), Dhoom 2 (2006) and Dhoom 3 (2013), Yash Raj Films is ready to announce Dhoom 4. According to recent reports by Pinkvilla, Aditya Chopra is planning to begin production on the movie.

New Faces, New Heist: Ranbir Kapoor Leads the Charge
Taking center stage in Dhoom 4 is none other than Ranbir Kapoor, stepping into the shoes of the franchise’s new anti-hero. Known for his versatility and star power, Kapoor is expected to bring a layered and charismatic twist to the stylish criminal archetype that the series has become known for.
As per the reports, the makers are developing the story and screenplay. They are properly working on the story draft. Ranbir Kapoor is playing the lead role in Dhoom 4. The actor is working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War and Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. It hasn’t been confirmed whether the shooting for Dhoom 4 will begin once he finishes filming the two movies.
Longtime fans of the franchise might be surprised — or even disappointed — to learn that Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will not be returning as Jai and Ali. Their absence signals a clear shift in tone, with YRF opting to start fresh rather than continue the legacy characters.
Direction and Development: Ayan Mukerji in the Frame
While no director has been officially confirmed, sources suggest that Ayan Mukerji, known for films like Brahmāstra and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, is the front-runner. Mukerji’s potential involvement has fans excited about a more stylized and cinematic take on the franchise.
The script is reportedly being finalized by Shridhar Raghavan, who has previously worked on espionage thrillers like War and Pathaan, suggesting Dhoom 4 could lean into a slicker, more global tone.
Filming is scheduled to begin in April 2026, with a release window likely in late 2027.
