The much-awaited teaser of Ranabaali has been released, offering a glimpse into the period epic starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna. Backed by Mythri Movie Makers and directed by Rahul Sankrityan, the film explores a lesser-known chapter of Indian history while bringing the culture and landscape of Rayalaseema to the screen.
Set against the backdrop of the Madras Famine of 1876–1878, the film draws from a period marked by drought, colonial policies and inadequate relief measures. The famine resulted in millions of deaths across southern and western India, leaving a lasting impact on communities and generations. Ranabaali looks at this historical period through the story of a character who rises from Rayalaseema.
The teaser introduces Vijay Deverakonda as Ranabaali, a Telugu man from Rayalaseema, while Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, his wife and partner in his struggle. The film brings the actors together in a period setting that is different from their previous collaborations.
