The teaser for Main Vaapas Aaunga has officially dropped, marking the return of filmmaker Imtiaz Ali to the big screen. This epic Partition-era saga reunites the powerhouse trio of Ali, A.R. Rahman, and lyricist Irshad Kamil, promising an emotional journey through time, love, and the pain of migration.

The teaser opens in the present day with Diljit Dosanjh sitting by the bedside of his grandfather, played by the legendary Naseeruddin Shah. Diljit narrates a “romantic story” that has lived in his grandfather’s mind for nearly eight decades.
As the music swells, the visuals transport us back to pre-Partition India. We see a young couple—played by Vedang Raina (as the younger version of Naseeruddin Shah) and Sharvari—sharing stolen glances and riding bicycles through lush wheat fields. However, the dreamlike romance is shattered by the chaos of 1947.
The teaser reaches its emotional peak at a railway station, where Vedang’s character is separated from his love. As he boards a train, he shouts the titular promise: “Main Vaapas Aaunga” (I will return).
Main Vaapas Aaunga is produced by Sameer Nair and Deepak Segal (Applause Entertainment), Mohit Choudhary, and Shibasish Sarkar (Window Seat Films). It is scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, 2026.
