The much-anticipated sequel to the 2007 cult classic, Awarapan, is officially gearing up for a grand theatrical release during the Independence Day weekend in 2026. Titled Awarapan 2, the film promises a compelling blend of intense romance, music, and action.
As per report by Leading Entertainment portal Bollywood Hunagam, “Awarapan 2 has shaped up well as a musical intense love story with Emraan Hashmi, and Disha Patani. The makers were considering several release dates, and have finally decided on Independence Day weekend.”
Currently in production, Awarapan 2 is being directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced under the banner of Vishesh Films, helmed by Mukesh Bhatt and Vishesh Bhatt.
If the Independence Day release holds, Awarapan 2 will face stiff competition at the box office from Lahore 1947.
The period drama stars Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta in leading roles. The film is produced by Aamir Khan and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi. Veteran actress Shabana Azmi is also set to play a pivotal role.
