In India, the Marvel film Thor: Love and Thunder has attracted a sizable audience. Oscar winner Taika Waititi’s film, which released on July 7, has received a strong response at the box office. The lead actors in the film are Chris Hemsworth, Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, and Tessa Thompson.
As expected, Thor: Love and Thunder has managed to impress all the critics as well as the audience in India and has garnered solid word of mouth. As a result, the film has opened on an excellent note with 40-45% occupancy in the morning. After a good jump post noon shows, the film has managed to collect 18.60 crores nett at the box office from 2800 screens across India.
The opening of the film has helped it secure a place in the top 5 Hollywood openers. Interestingly, all 5 top openers belong to MCU with films like Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Avengers: Infinity War and Doctor Strange occupying the top 4 spots.
Meanwhile, The film would target hitting the magical 3-digit mark by the end of its run. The extended 4-day weekend projections are around the Rs. 70 cr nett range and it will all be about where the film goes, from the weekend.
In the movie’s trailer, it has been hinted that Thor has gone into retirement of sorts while Natalie Portman as Mighty Thor takes the reigns over at Asgard with Valkyrie (Tessa Thomson). The most exciting addition to the cast, however, is Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher. Bale is returning to the superhero genre after playing Batman in The Dark Knight trilogy which culminated in 2012. Now, with Bale joining the MCU, fans will have a lot more to look forward to in Thor: Love And Thunder.
