The film is slated to go on floors later this month and marks the first collaboration between Bhushan Kumar and Ram Gopal Varma—a coming together of two creative forces with a shared appetite for telling stories rooted in scale, realism and mass appeal.

Announcing the title, RGV recently took to social media to shed light on importance behind his new movie, talking about time when the underworld was rapidly expanding its grip across India. Between 1997 and 2004, a special squad was formed to combat this growing threat, who went on to eliminate nearly 300 gangsters. ‘Police Company’ draws inspiration from this extraordinary chapter, with the story centred around Daya Nayak, who became one of the country’s most celebrated encounter specialists and held the fort against the underworld.

For decades, Ram Gopal Varma has remained synonymous with gritty, hard-hitting cinema. Whether it was redefining the gangster genre or presenting the murky intersections of crime, politics and law enforcement with startling realism, his films have consistently pushed the boundaries of mainstream storytelling. His visual language, razor-sharp narratives and uncompromising approach to filmmaking have inspired an entire generation of filmmakers.

With Police Company, Varma returns to familiar yet fertile ground: the world of cops, crime and the underworld. The story promises to delve into the intensity, pressures and moral dilemmas that define a life spent on the frontlines of one of the world’s toughest cities.

Harshvardhan Rane, known for his commanding screen presence and emotionally layered performances, steps into one of the most challenging roles of his career. Playing a character inspired by a real-life police icon, the actor is expected to undergo a significant physical and performance transformation to bring authenticity to the role.

With Ram Gopal Varma returning to the genre that established him as one of India’s most distinctive filmmakers, Police Company is expected to blend his trademark realism with gripping action, edge-of-the-seat storytelling and the atmospheric tension that has become synonymous with his cinema.

Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, Police Company is a T-Series Films and RGV Company production. The film is directed by Ram Gopal Varma and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Ram Gopal Varma.
