In an exciting announcement for fans of Indian cinema, superstar Rajinikanth’s much-anticipated film Coolie has finally locked in its release date. The movie, which marks a significant milestone in Rajinikanth’s career, will hit the big screens on August 14, 2025—coinciding with India’s Independence Day.
Sun Pictures confirmed the release date with a poster. They wrote, “Sound-ah yethu! 📢 Deva Varraaru🔥 #Coolie worldwide from August 14th 😎.”
The stellar cast of Coolie includes Kannada star Upendra, Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna, Malayalam’s Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran.
In April 2024, the makers revealed the film’s title with a special video featuring Rajinikanth. In the video, the superstar utters a famous dialogue from his 1982 film Ranga.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is also working for Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster film directed by Nelson. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film will have music from Anirudh Ravichander.
