Salman Khan’s much-awaited action-thriller, Sikandar, is finally in theatres, on the occasion of Eid-al-fitr. Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the film also stars Rashmika Mandanna in the lead.
Plot: The story follows Sanjay Rajkot (Salman Khan), a man whose life takes a drastic turn after he teaches a lesson to the son of a powerful politician, played by Prateik Babbar. His wife, Saisri Rajkot (Rashmika Mandanna), stands by him, protecting him from the ensuing dangers. As the couple navigates this new threat, Sanjay’s past comes back to haunt him in a series of high-stakes confrontations.
Performance: As Sikandar, Salman Khan is in his prime and portrays a character that fits with his “Being Human” persona. Rashmika Mandanna looks gorgeous & does reasonably well. Sathyaraj is wasted. Kajal Agarwal is decent. Sharman Joshi, Kishore, and Jatin Sarna are decent and do well.
Direction & Music: A.R. Murugadoss brings his signature action-packed style to Sikandar, though the film’s potential isn’t fully realized. The first half feels like a typical action movie, while the second half does have a bit more weight, especially in terms of story development. However, it could have benefited from tighter pacing and stronger character arcs. The title track is tremendous and others are quite average.
Final Words: Sikandar is an action-thriller that will undoubtedly appeal to Salman Khan’s die-hard fans, but for others, it might come across as formulaic. While the film’s core action sequences and Khan’s performance are strong, the underutilization of key actors and an average storyline limit its overall impact. If you’re a Salman fan, this might still be worth a watch, but don’t expect a game-changer.
