Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for his grand vision and meticulous attention to detail — and he’s proving it once again with his upcoming magnum opus, Love & War. Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Recreate Italy in Mumbai for 'Love & War' After International Schedule Gets Cancelled: Report

Originally, Sanjay Leela Bhansali had planned a 45-day shoot in Italy for Love & War. However, the schedule was ultimately scrapped due to logistical challenges. To stay on track, the director decided to recreate the Italian backdrop on an elaborate set built near Royal Palms in Goregaon.

A report by Mid-Day quoted a source as saying, “The Italy schedule was turning out to be logistically complex and would have taken much longer to execute. Bhansali wanted to retain the grandeur while maintaining complete control over the setting. So, he decided to recreate those portions on a set in Mumbai. He conducted a 10-day stint with his lead actors before Diwali.”

The source further revealed that this segment is crucial to the film, as the lead cast will be shooting key portions of the climax. After photos of Alia Bhatt from the set leaked online, Bhansali reportedly tightened security on location.

“The director has made it clear that he doesn’t want any of the actors’ looks or scene details to be revealed. The production team will now disclose the exact shooting venue to the unit only shortly before filming begins,” the insider added.

Bhansali reportedly plans to wrap up filming by mid-December, with Love & War slated for a March 2026 release.
