The trailer of Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming film Aakhri Sawal was unveiled in Mumbai on May 8. The film revisits some of India’s most debated historical events and has already sparked discussions online following the trailer’s release.

At the launch event, Sanjay Dutt stated that the film’s themes and questions should reach the younger generation and all citizens of the country. Commenting on his decision to join the project, he said, “When this script came to me, and when I heard the script, I felt that all these questions should reach our youth, should reach every citizen of our country. You know, and… We have tried our best to perform it, to enhance it, as you have seen.”
The film incorporates dramatic scenes and powerful dialogues to raise questions around these events and aims to present what the makers describe as “untold truths.”
Sanjay Dutt plays the lead role, portraying a compelling character throughout the trailer. Actress Sameera Reddy returns with an important role. The cast also includes Amit Sadh, Namashi Chakraborty, Nitu Chandra, and Tridha Choudhury.
Aakhri Sawal is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang, with story, screenplay, and dialogues written by Utkarsh Naithani.
The makers have also emphasised that the film seeks to make cinema more accessible, featuring integrated Indian Sign Language (ISL) support for deaf viewers. Plans are underway to provide accessibility support for visually challenged audiences as well.
The film is presented by Nikhil Nanda and produced by Nikhil Nanda and Sanjay Dutt, with Puneet Nanda, Dr. Deepak Singh, Gaurav Dubey, and Ujjwal Anand serving as co-producers. Aakhri Sawal is scheduled for theatrical release on May 15 in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.
