After the roaring success of Raid (2018), expectations were sky-high for its sequel — and Raid 2 does not disappoint. Raid 2 Movie Review: Ajay Devgn's Quiet Strength and Riteish Deshmukh's Menace Make It Worth the Watch

Synopsis: Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Amay Patnaik, an honest income tax officer. This time, he is transferred to Bhoj, a fictional state ruled by the powerful and seemingly benevolent politician, Dadabhai (Riteish Deshmukh). Patnaik senses corruption beneath Dadabhai’s public image and conducts raids, leading to a clash between the two influential figures.

Performance: Ajay Devgn brings his signature intensity and stoic presence to the role of Amay Patnaik. Riteish Deshmukh’s portrayal of the antagonist Dadabhai is noted, with his expressions of passive anger being impactful. Saurabh Shukla returns as Tauji from the first Raid, and is good. Amit Sial, as the corrupt officer Lallan, is highlighted for his performance, bringing a roguish charm to his character. Vaani Kapoor, replacing Ileana D’Cruz as Patnaik’s wife, has a limited role with little impact on the story.

Direction: The film is directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, who also directed the first Raid. While, the first half of Raid 2 struggles with slow pacing and a lackluster screenplay, failing to fully engage the audience. However, the second half significantly improves, with sharper writing and impactful dialogues that heighten the tension and make the latter portion much more compelling.

Music: ‘Kamle’ and ‘Tumhe Dillagi’ disappoint and feel like speed bumps, while ‘Nasha’ is catchy and sure to please the masses. ‘Money Money’ adds appeal during the end credits.

Final Word: If you’re a fan of investigative dramas and rooted storytelling with a dose of political commentary, Raid 2 is worth a watch — especially for Ajay Devgn’s quietly magnetic screen presence.
