Raid 2 1st day box office collection: The much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 hit “Raid,” titled “Raid 2,” has hit the silver screens today, May 1, 2025, coinciding with Labour Day. Starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role of the incorruptible Income Tax officer Amay Patnaik, the film has managed to strike a chord with the audience on its opening day, according to early estimates.
Directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, “Raid 2” also features a fresh cast including Vaani Kapoor as Amay Patnaik’s wife (replacing Ileana D’Cruz from the first installment) and Riteish Deshmukh in a pivotal role as the antagonist, Manohar Dhankar, also known as Dada Manohar Bhai, a powerful politician. Saurabh Shukla also reprises his role as Rameshwar Singh from the original movie.
As per initial reports from various trade trackers, “Raid 2” has had a promising start at the box office. Industry sources suggest that the film has raked in approximately Rs 19.71 crore net on its opening day across India. This opening is notably better than Ajay Devgn’s 2022 release “Drishyam 2,” which earned Rs 15.38 crore on its first day.
The film benefitted from the Labour Day holiday in several parts of the country, contributing to higher footfalls in theaters. The occupancy rates across India for the Hindi (2D) version stood at an overall 31.81% on Thursday. The occupancy witnessed a gradual increase throughout the day, starting from 21.23% during the morning shows to an impressive 38.45% during the evening.
Despite facing competition from Akshay Kumar’s “Kesari Chapter 2,” which has been running successfully for the past couple of weeks, and new releases like Sanjay Dutt’s “Bhootnii,” “Raid 2” has managed to secure a strong opening. However, it fell short of the opening day collection of Vicky Kaushal’s “Chhaava 2,” which remains the highest opener of 2025 so far.
