Om Raut who is a celebrated director in the Indian Film Industry recently attended a G20 event attended by the Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and a number of political personalities. He was one of the guests at the event who addressed the Northeast Indian students and interacted with them.
While talking to the students Om Raut invited them to visit his film set the next time they’d come to Mumbai. Om Raut also mentioned how there are only a few films highlighting the achievements and sacrifices of the Northeastern people.
He also spoke about Lachit Barphukan a commander who laid his life fighting against the Mughals. Reminiscing of his youth he also spoke about how he too, was a part of the ABVP and that he felt surreal giving a speech there as a guest. The students present at the event were also excited to see Om Raut and were listening to him with rapt attention and also clicked a few pictures spoke to him one on one.
Apart from talking to the students he was also having lively conversations with the Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. On multiple occasions the two were seen sharing a good laugh on the stage.
We are curious to know if the director will be making a film on a project on northeastern personalities soon.
