Nimrat Kaur is all set to star in the royal drama series Kull: The Legacy of the Raisingghs. She will be seen playing the fierce and layered role of Rani Indrani Raisinggh, a woman who exudes authority and power in a dysfunctional family filled with suffocation, strained relationships and hidden truths. Recently, the actress shared insights into her role, her experience of playing the royal character, and what attracted her to it.
Speaking about what drew her to the role, Nimrat said, “What attracted me most to playing Indrani was the fact that she was so perfectly poised on the outside and so suffocated and bottled up on the inside. She’s someone who, perhaps, wasn’t fully aware of her internal turbulence , yet had to navigate a very complex life surrounded by even more complex people and strange circumstances. The expectations were always so high, and everything was so high-stakes. I found the entire grid of the character extremely challenging and new.”
Delving into the nuances of Rani Indrani, Nimrat added, “This is the first time that I really let a lot of the details of the character come to me when I reached the location and absorbed the surroundings. Indrani, being from a royal family, had a fragile grandeur and persona that I felt were a direct result of how and where she lived. It was all so alien to me, given the world I come from, that I let a lot of this influence her costumes and the locations we were shooting in.”
“This was something very unique to this process. And, of course, with Sahir’s vision and the script, and just how complex all the interpersonal relationships were, there really is no straightforward relationship for her in her life. That, for me, was extremely, extremely challenging and very exciting all at the same time,” she concluded.
