Kartik Aaryan, Randeep Hooda, Sara Ali Khan and Aarushi Sharma’s ‘Love Aaj Kal’ hit the big screen yesterday. Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the romantic drama made headlines ever since the makers announced the film. Love Aaj Kal is Imtiaz Ali’s take on his 2009 original, which starred Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padulkone.
Directed by Imtiaz Ali, Love Aaj Kal is getting mixed reviews from critics as well as audience, but due to high initial buzz and solid star power it started the journey on an excellent. As per critics both the actors have given good performances, but the weak script and direction pull it back.
On the opening day, this romantic drama reported good occupancy of 15-20% in multiplexes while decent on single screens for morning shows. With the great excitement of fans, the movie has witnessed usual growth over the evening and night shows across the country.
As per the reports, Maddock Films, Window Seat Films, Reliance Entertainment and Jio Studios’s production, Love Aaj Kal recorded overall occupancy of 20-25% across the country and garnered the business of 12.40 crores nett. at domestic box office.
With this, it has emerged as the highest opener of Kartik’s career, Pati Patni Aur Woh (9.10 cr), Luka Chuppi (8.01 cr), Pyaar Ka Punchnaman 2 (6.80 cr), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (6.42 cr) and Pyaar Ka Punchnama (0.92 cr).
