After delivering three consecutive blockbusters last year, Shah Rukh Khan aka King Khan is now gearing up for his next big venture, ‘King’. Directed by Sujoy Ghosh of “Kahaani” fame and produced by Siddharth Anand, the director of Pathaan, and the latest update says it has now gotten Abhishek Bachchan on board.
According to a report by PeepingMoon, Abhishek Bachchan has come on board for King to play the villain in the movie. It will be very interesting to see this new hero-villain pair as the rumor says Bachchan plays a sophisticated baddie in King. The makers have kept the specific character details under wraps and there is not much out yet. It will be an out-and-out negative role, and Abhishek, as per a source, was surprised when it was offered to him but also accepted it quickly.
A source close to the update said, “Abhishek is an actor whose full potential has yet to be fully realized. He has the ability to astonish audiences when given complex roles. King presents him in an out-and-out negative role for the first time in such a large-scale commercial movie, and he is sure to make a significant impact with his performance. Jr. Bachchan was surprised when he was offered this role but accepted it immediately, intrigued by the depth of his character. It’s a special role, and Siddharth Anand has grand plans to present Abhishek in a manner audiences have never seen before.”
For Abhishek, it marks his second collaboration with Sujoy Ghosh after he starred in the latter’s production, Bob Biswas, while it’s his first project with Siddharth Anand. The film is currently in pre-production and is expected to get off the ground in October–November this year, targeting a late 2025 or early 2026 release.
Readers may recall that Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter, Suhana Khan, will be making her acting debut in King. While specific details about her character are yet to be revealed, we know that she will play a pivotal role alongside her father.
