Sun Pictures has dropped the official trailer for Jailer 2, setting off a surge of excitement across Indian cinema fans. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the follow-up to the 2023 box-office titan brings Superstar Rajinikanth back as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian for an action spectacle slated for worldwide release on October 15, 2026. The 2-minute and 24-second footage builds upon the formula of the original while dramatically expanding its overall scope, emotional conflict, and stellar ensemble.
The Jailer 2 trailer picks up where the first film left off, with Rajinikanth reprising his role as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer who took down a powerful idol-smuggling network. This time, the entire racketeering network turns against him, as former allies and new enemies close in on the retired officer who thought his battle was finally over. As his enemies hunt for him, Tiger is seen living a quiet life and working as a driver in a remote village. But his peaceful life may not last for long. What happens next? Beyond the core returning cast and comedian Yogi Babu, the trailer confirms heavyweights including S. J. Suryah, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, and Suraj Venjaramoodu. These new additions bring multi-fronted antagonism and a distinct regional flair to the narrative.
Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar feature for just a second, adding to the scale of a sequel that brings together several major names from across the Indian film industry.
Director Nelson Dilipkumar pairs this intense violence with his signature dry, situational comedy, while composer Anirudh Ravichander delivers an electrifying background score driven by heavy-bass riffs that promise a massive theatrical experience when the film hits standard, 4DX, and IMAX screens on October 15, 2026.
