Bollywood’s favourite man of mystery, Bobby Deol, is all set to collaborate with director Ali Abbas Zafar for an upcoming Yash Raj Films (YRF) project that also stars Ahaan Panday and Sharvari Wagh in lead roles. The untitled action-romance is expected to begin filming in early 2026 and promises a blend of high-octane drama, emotion, and star power.
After earning critical and audience acclaim for his menacing performances in Animal and Aashram, Bobby Deol is now stepping into a more layered space. According to a report by Mid-Day, Bobby’s role in Zafar’s film will be complex and multi-dimensional.
A trade source quoted by Mid-Day revealed, “It would be incorrect to call him the villain. His character holds an authoritative position in the film, but there’s more to him than meets the eye. As the story progresses, Bobby’s character develops grey shades, which influence his dynamics with the hero.”
Interestingly, Bobby is also set to play a full-fledged negative role in Aditya Chopra’s upcoming film Alpha, headlined by Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh. Given that, the Mid-Day report mentions that Ali Abbas Zafar and Aditya Chopra consciously decided not to present Bobby in a similar “all-black” avatar for this project.
The source added, “Ali and producer Aditya Chopra were clear from the beginning that the character shouldn’t be entirely menacing or evil, as Bobby has already explored such roles. The director designed a larger-than-life persona keeping Bobby in mind, while also giving the character emotional depth and shades of grey. Bobby came on board just a week ago.”
The Mid-Day report further states that Ali Abbas Zafar will soon travel to England for a location recce. If all goes as planned, the film will begin shooting in the first quarter of 2026.
