Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali and producer Mahaveer Jain are set to introduce a fresh face in their upcoming coming-of-age friendship film Side Heroes. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the makers have finalized a newcomer as the film’s female lead after auditioning several aspiring actresses.
As per the report, the identity of the actress has been kept under wraps, with the team planning to make an official announcement soon. A source quoted by the publication claimed that the role attracted numerous aspiring actresses, as being launched in an Imtiaz Ali-backed film is considered a dream opportunity for many newcomers.
The report further stated that Side Heroes is expected to go on floors later this year. The source described the film as a hilarious coming-of-age entertainer with highly relatable emotions, adding that the makers believe it has the potential to connect strongly with audiences.
Side Heroes stars Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurana, and Varun Sharma in lead roles. The film is directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy and written by Siddarth Sen, who previously directed Good Luck Jerry, along with Pankaj Matta.
The project is being produced by Imtiaz Ali’s Window Seat Films in association with Mahaveer Jain Films, with Neetu Mahaveer Jain, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and Shikha Karan Ahluwalia serving as producers. The makers are expected to officially unveil the film’s leading lady in the coming weeks.
