The new Hindi release of this weekend is a comedy drama Khandaani Shafakhana which has a decent buzz among moviegoers. But it has a mammoth opponent to face at the box office, hugely-awaited Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw. Also the Super 30 and The Lion king are doing great business. So for the new Hindi films, this week would definitely be challenging.
Directed by Shilpi Dasgupta, Khandaani Shafakhana is a comedy drama, stars Sonakshi Sinha, Varun Sharma and rapper-turned-film actor Badshah in lead roles. Jointly produced by Sundial Productions and T-Series Films, it is about a Punjabi girl, Babita “Baby” Bedi (played by Sonakshi Sinha), who has to run a fertility clinic. She will have to face many obstacles of this society that is conservative towards women.
With unique promotional strategy on social media, makers have set good buzz of Khandaani Shafakhana but it’s not a big ticket film, so there is no high expectations with it. Talking about actors’ previous records, then Sonakshi’s last release Kalank tasted big failure at box office and the same happened with Varun’s Arjun Patiala.
Considering the reports and the fact that Khandaani Shafakhana has a competition with highly buzzed Hobbs & Shaw & three weeks back released Super 30, it seems to open in range of 1.50-2 crores at domestic box office. The film can rise, if it gets succeed to engage audience.
On the other hand, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is one of the most-awaited films of the year. Hobbs and Shaw is buzzing among Indian audience since announcement and now when it is ready to hit screens, all are looking very much excited.
In India, Hobbs & Shaw is releasing across 2100 screens including English, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu versions. With such high screen count & solid buzz, it is expected to open in a range of 8-10 crores which is strong enough on a normal working day.
