The highly anticipated third installment in the HIT (Homicide Intervention Team) universe, HIT: The Third Case, starring Nani in the lead role of SP Arjun Sarkaar, has taken the Indian box office by storm on its opening day, May 1, 2025. A phenomenal start for the Telugu action thriller, directed by Sailesh Kolanu, suggesting a strong continuation of the franchise’s success.
As per the report that Hit: The Third Case has grossed approximately Rs 21 crore net across India on its first day. Produced by Prashanti Tipirneni and Nani under Wall Poster Cinema and Unanimous Productions, the film also stars Srinidhi Shetty, who plays the character of Mrudula, along with a supporting cast including Surya Srinivas and Rao Ramesh.
On the other hand, Suriya’s highly anticipated collaboration with director Karthik Subbaraj, Retro, has finally hit the screens today, coinciding with Labour Day, and the initial response at the box office suggests a promising start for the Tamil romantic action drama.
A strong opening day for Retro, with estimates placing its India net collection around Rs 19.25 crore across all languages. The Tamil version has predominantly driven these numbers, raking in approximately grosses Rs 17.75 crore, while the Telugu and Hindi dubbed versions contributed around Rs 1.95 crore and Rs 0.05 crore, respectively.
Retro, which also stars Pooja Hegde in the lead alongside a supporting cast including Jayaram, Joju George, Nassar, and Prakash Raj, has garnered mixed to positive reviews from critics.
