Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon starrer Bhediya has managed a decent opening weekend at the box office despite its slow start. The film, directed by Amar Kaushik, hit the screens on November 25.
Maddock Films and Jio Studios’ production opened with a decent amount of Rs 7.48 crore on Friday and went on to earn Rs 9.57 crore on Saturday. It earned Rs 11.50 crore on Sunday, bringing the total collection of the film to Rs 28.55 crore.
The film, based on ancient Arunachali folklore, tells the story of an ordinary man who begins to transform into a wolf after being bit by a mythical animal.
Staying true to the roots, the film is set in Arunachal Pradesh. Varun Dhawan plays a young man named Bhaskar who gets bitten by a wolf in the forest and starts transforming into a shape-shifting werewolf. He along with his friends looks for answers to find a cure and uncover an age-old mystery.
This was Varun Dhawan’s second film this year after Jug Jugg Jeeyo, which was a moderate success at the box office after it netted approximately Rs 85 cr at the domestic box office.
