Aamir Khan Productions has officially unveiled the trailer for the highly anticipated period drama Batwara 1947 on July 28, setting the stage for an Independence Day weekend release on August 14, 2026.
Directed and written by veteran filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, the film marks a high-profile collaboration bringing together Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity G. Zinta, and Karan Deol, alongside Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh, Khhushi Hajare, and Kanikka Kapur.
Set against the harrowing backdrop of India’s 1947 Partition, the trailer opens with the chaotic aftermath of independence and mass migration. The narrative centres around a disputed house allocated by the Custodian Office to a Muslim family migrating during Partition, only to find an elderly Hindu matriarch (played by Shabana Azmi) who refuses to abandon her home and faith.
