John Abraham starrer Batla House might not have done great business as its rival film Mission Mangal, but it has been able to stay afloat despite the tough competition. The film is expected to enjoy a steady run until the next big release, Sujeeth’s action-thriller Saaho starring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor, arrives in theatres and gives it stiff competition.
Batla House is a gritty drama which tells the story of the controversial Batla House shootout in September 2008, between the Delhi Police and five suspected terrorists. John plays Sanjay Kumar, a decorated police officer modelled on DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav of the Delhi Police’s special cell.
Produced by T-Series, Emmay Entertainment, John Abraham Entertainment and Bake My Cake Films’ production registered the business of 65.84 crores in the 8-days extended opening week that included 47.99 crores on the 4-days weekend and 17.85 crores on weekdays from around 2400 screens across the country.
Batla House is running in its second week now and once again passed the weekend on a terrific note. On 2nd Friday, little drop and minted the amount of 4.15 crores. Then with a remarkable growth over 2nd Saturday & 2nd Sunday, the movie raked 6.58 crores & 7.21 crores respectively.
Now on weekdays, as usual, John Abraham, Ravi Kishan and Mrunal Thakur starrer has witnessed a decline in footfalls. On 2nd Monday, it bagged the amount of 2.26 crores after a drop of 45.55% than the 2nd Friday. With a further drop, the movie collected 2.08 crores and raised 13 days total to 88.12 crores.
