Awarapan 2 1st day box office collection: Emraan Hashmi’s much-awaited action thriller Awarapan 2 has made a strong start at the Indian box office. The Nitin Kakkar directorial, which brings back Hashmi as Shivam Pandit nearly two decades after the original Awarapan, opened in cinemas on August 14 and has emerged as the clear winner in its clash with Sunny Deol’s Batwara 1947.
Before Awarapan 2, Hashmi’s biggest opening day came with Baadshaho, which earned Rs 12.60 crore in 2017. Raaz 2 had previously opened at Rs 10.35 crore in 2012. With an estimated Rs 23.40 crore opening, Awarapan 2 has comfortably moved past both films and established a new personal opening-day record for the actor.
The film began its theatrical journey on Friday with considerable audience interest, helped by the nostalgia surrounding the 2007 cult film and the return of Emraan Hashmi’s popular character Shivam Pandit.
The film also delivered a much bigger start than its predecessor. The original Awarapan opened to approximately Rs 0.79 cr in 2007, meaning the sequel has surpassed the first film’s opening-day collection by a huge margin.
With the holiday weekend ahead, all eyes are now on Awarapan 2’s Day 2 box-office collection and whether Shivam Pandit’s comeback can turn this impressive opening into a major theatrical success.
