The makers of the highly anticipated Ramayana have unveiled a striking new character poster featuring veteran actor Arun Govil as King Dashrath, the King of Ayodhya. The poster offers a grand glimpse into the film’s opulent visual world and marks a special return for Govil to the universe of the Ramayana.

Sharing the poster, the makers wrote: “He once brought Ram to life for a generation. Now, he returns to the world of Ramayana as the King of Ayodhya. Arun Govil as King Dashrath.”
The casting carries a strong sense of nostalgia for Indian audiences. Arun Govil is remembered for his iconic portrayal of Lord Ram in the celebrated television adaptation of Ramayan. His return to a Ramayana-based production, this time as Dashrath, adds another emotional layer to the upcoming big-screen epic.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is an upcoming Hindi-language epic mythological film based on the ancient Sanskrit epic traditionally attributed to Valmiki. The screenplay has been co-written by Tiwari and Shridhar Raghavan.
The film is planned as the first installment of a two-part cinematic saga, with the story exploring the life, relationships and trials of Prince Rama of Ayodhya.
The ensemble cast includes Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Yash, Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor, Adinath Kothare, Indira Krishnan, Lara Dutta and Arun Govil, among others.
