Article 15, the crime drama starring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role was released on Friday. The film embarked on a good note at the box office on its Day 1 despite the controversy surrounding the film, with several threats from Hindu-fringe groups.
Directed by the director of critically-acclaimed Mulk Anubhav Sinha, the Hindi crime drama has got succeed to convince critics because of its unusual plot & excellent performance by all the actors. But unexpectedly, the audience is not very much impressed.
On the opening day, Article 15 got decent start and did the opening business of 5.02 crores from approx 1500 screens across the country. On Saturday, as expected it took good jump despite last week released Kabir Singh and collected 7.25 crores.
After 2 days, total collection of Benaras Media Works and Zee Studios’ production has become 12.27 crores at domestic box office. It is positively expected to grow further over the weekend also remain steady for long at box office.
The storyline for the socio-political drama film has been inspired from true life events, including 2014 Badaun gang rape and 2016 Una flogging incident. Ayushmann Khurrana, the protagonist, is playing a police officer in the film. Article 15 is written by Gaurav Solanki and Anubhav Sinha and also stars Isha Talwar, Sayani Gupta, Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa in significant roles.
