Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 3 Announcement Teaser Missed October 2 Release; Reason Revealed

The much-anticipated announcement teaser for Drishyam 3, which was expected to release on October 2, has been delayed, leaving fans in suspense. While initial reports suggested the delay was due to unfinished background music, a new report by Mid-Day reveals deeper creative tensions between the Hindi and Malayalam sides of the Drishyam franchise.

Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 3 Announcement Teaser Missed October 2 Release; Reason Revealed

A source told Mid-Day, “There is an understanding between the makers of the Malayalam franchise, Jeethu Joseph and Antony Perumbavoor, and the Hindi remake’s producer, Kumar Mangat Pathak. Apparently, one of the adaptation clauses states that the Hindi team cannot make any announcements about their film’s content without the permission of the original creators.”

The source added that while Pathak initially cited unfinished background music as the reason for the teaser delay, the real issue lies in this clause.

On the Malayalam side, Drishyam 3 is already in full swing. Mohanlal, the superstar who has portrayed the iconic role of Georgekutty, began shooting for the third film last month. Though the production team has been keeping details under wraps, Mohanlal’s social media update has already sparked fan excitement about the direction the film is taking. The official announcement of the shoot has only fueled speculation, with many expecting the story to delve deeper into Georgekutty’s world and the consequences of his past actions.

Meanwhile, the Hindi adaptation, directed by Abhishek Pathak (who helmed the highly successful Drishyam 2 in Hindi), is expected to begin shooting in December 2025.

The source also revealed that the announcement of the Hindi version’s release date did not sit well with Perumbavoor and Joseph. Initially, the plan was for all three versions—Malayalam, Hindi, and Telugu—to be directed by Jeethu Joseph and released simultaneously on October 2, 2026. However, things took a turn when the Hindi team announced the same release date exclusively for their version. Additionally, Pathak’s decision to have his son Abhishek direct the Hindi version instead of Joseph has added to the tension.

This series of developments has highlighted the delicate balance between the two sides of the franchise, as both the original creators and the Hindi adaptation team try to navigate the complex landscape of cross-industry collaborations. Fans will now have to wait and see how these behind-the-scenes dynamics play out in the coming months.
