In a surprising turn of events, the much-anticipated superhero film featuring Aamir Khan and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj has been officially shelved. This decision marks a significant shift in the Indian film industry, especially given the high expectations surrounding the project.
The collaboration between Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj initially generated immense excitement. Aamir Khan confirmed the project in June 2025, describing it as a “big-scale action outing” and stating that production was scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. However, following the release of Coolie, developments led to the film being shelved.
Many fans had expected Aamir Khan’s cameo in Coolie to be as memorable and impactful as Rolex’s appearance in Vikram. Unfortunately, his role turned out to be underwhelming and lacked the depth and screen presence audiences had hoped for. As a result, the Sitaare Zameen Par actor faced criticism from both critics and viewers, who felt that such a talented star deserved a stronger, more substantial character rather than a brief and poorly developed part.
There remains a possibility that the project is not entirely canceled but put on hold. Lokesh Kanagaraj might be prioritizing a multistarrer film he plans to make with Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth, which could explain the delay.
Currently, Lokesh Kanagaraj is focused on his upcoming film Kaithi 2, the sequel to his 2019 hit Kaithi.
