Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Revive Inshallah With Alia Bhatt After Love & War? Here’s What We Know

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt could be set to reunite for Inshallah, the long-gestating project that was originally announced in 2019 with Salman Khan as the male lead. According to a report by Mid-Day, Bhansali and Bhatt are now in discussions to revisit the shelved film after completing their current collaboration, Love & War.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali to Revive Inshallah With Alia Bhatt After Love & War? Here’s What We Know

Inshallah was announced with Bhansali directing and Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. However, the project was eventually shelved following creative differences, with Salman subsequently exiting the film.

There has since been considerable speculation around the project’s revival and its potential casting. Earlier this year, reports suggested that Shah Rukh Khan was being considered for the male lead. However, according to the Mid-Day report, Bhansali is currently focused on finalising the story and screenplay before making any casting decisions.

A source quoted in the report explained that Bhansali does not lock the cast of his films until the script is finalised. The source added, “No casting gets locked on a Bhansali film without the script being finalised.”

The source further noted that Salman Khan is currently occupied with Raj & DK’s upcoming project, while Shah Rukh Khan has yet to announce his next film after King. Given the direction the story may ultimately take, the filmmaker could also opt for a younger actor to play the male lead.

For now, no official casting announcement has been made for the revived version of Inshallah. Bhansali and Bhatt are currently associated with Love & War, making a potential reunion on Inshallah another development to watch once their present film takes shape.
