Justice is set to take centre stage as Prahaar – The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam, starring Rajkummar Rao as renowned special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, gets a new theatrical release date.

The film will now arrive in cinemas on October 16, 2026. The announcement was made by Maddock Films, which shared a new poster on social media along with the caption: “Ab hoga justice ka PRAHAAR on 16th October”, followed by the film’s title and release date.
Rajkummar Rao steps into the role of Ujjwal Nikam, a prominent figure known for his involvement in several high-profile criminal cases. The film aims to present the untold story of the man behind some of India’s most closely watched courtroom battles.
The makers introduced the film with the tagline, “When justice needed a voice, one man became its Prahaar,” setting the tone for a courtroom-driven drama centred on justice, determination and the pursuit of truth.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and directed by Avinash Arun, Prahaar features an ensemble cast alongside Rajkummar Rao, including Wamiqa Gabbi, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikander Kher and Tarun Sharma.
The film is expected to explore Ujjwal Nikam’s professional journey and the challenges surrounding some of the cases that shaped his reputation as a formidable prosecutor.
With Rajkummar Rao portraying a real-life legal figure and Avinash Arun at the helm, Prahaar brings together a strong combination of courtroom drama and biographical storytelling.
