Actor and producer Sohum Shah has officially announced that Alia Bhatt has joined the cast of the much-awaited folk horror sequel, Tumbbad 2. Sharing the exciting update on social media, Shah welcomed the actress with a cryptic message that has already sparked curiosity among fans.
“A new chapter unfolds. Welcome to #Tumbbad2, @aliaa08 #PralayAayega. See you in cinemas 💥 03.12.2027,” Sohum Shah wrote, confirming Alia’s entry into the project and revealing the film’s release date.
Earlier, it was announced that acclaimed actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui would also play a key role in the sequel, further raising anticipation for the film. Tumbbad 2 will be directed by Adesh Prasad, who previously served as the co-director and writer of the critically acclaimed 2018 original, Tumbbad.
The sequel is slated to hit theatres worldwide on December 3, 2027. The film is being produced by Sohum Shah and Dhaval Gada and is presented by Dr. Jayantilal Gada.
The original Tumbbad earned widespread praise for its unique blend of mythology, horror, and fantasy, eventually achieving cult status among audiences. With the return of the franchise and the addition of stars like Alia Bhatt and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, expectations for the sequel are running high.
Apart from Tumbbad 2, Alia Bhatt is currently working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ambitious period drama Love & War, where she stars alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles.
