Bollywood is gearing up for what could be one of its most ambitious cinematic ventures in recent years—‘King’, headlined by none other than Shah Rukh Khan. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film continues to make waves even before cameras start rolling, with the latest exciting update confirming that Rani Mukerji and Jaideep Ahlawat are joining the already star-studded cast.
As per a report in Pinkvilla, Rani Mukerji has joined King for a significant extended cameo alongside Shah Rukh Khan. A source told the publication, “Rani Mukerji and Shah Rukh Khan have worked together on films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Chalte Chalte and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna among others, and are now all set for a reunion. Rani Mukerji has been cast to play the part of Suhana Khan’s mother, and it’s a role which acts as a catalyst for the entire action-thriller in the film.”
The source further explained that Rani Mukerji’s role is more of an extended cameo, requiring only five days of shooting. The source added, “It was an easy decision for Rani to say yes to Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand’s offer for King. After hearing the role, she immediately agreed to join the film. Rani’s storyline is the emotional core of King, adding significant depth to the film.”
A report also mentioned that Jaideep Ahlawat will play the role of an antagonist in Shah Rukh Khan’s King. A source told the portal that Shah Rukh Khan himself reached out to Ahlawat, personally called and requested him to come on board. “He will be seen portraying a powerful antagonist in the film, sharing the villainous space with veteran actor Jackie Shroff. Talks are currently underway, and the shooting for Ahlawat’s portions is expected to begin soon,” the source added.
Produced by Red Chillies and Marflix, King features Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles, with Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Suhana Khan, Arshad Warsi and Abhay Verma in key roles.
