A new chapter in Bollywood’s war epic legacy has begun. Actor Ahan Shetty, son of veteran actor Suniel Shetty, officially kicked off the shoot for Border 2 on June 15 in Pune. The date—Father’s Day—was no coincidence. It was a symbolic gesture marking Ahan’s cinematic homage to his father, who played a memorable role in the original Border released in 1997.
Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 promises to be a gripping sequel to the JP Dutta classic that defined patriotic war films in Indian cinema. The new film boasts a powerful ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, blending generational talent and intense action drama.
Ahan, who made his debut in 2021 with Tadap, now takes a bold step by joining a franchise deeply rooted in emotion and national pride. His role in Border 2 is being kept under wraps for now, but sources close to the production suggest that he will be portraying a young officer facing the brutal realities of combat and sacrifice.
The film is being produced by Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta—bringing the original creators back on board, along with fresh vision and scale. With high-octane action sequences, dramatic storytelling, and a deep patriotic core, Border 2 aims to resonate with a new generation while honoring the legacy of its predecessor.
Border 2 is slated for a Republic Day weekend release on January 23, 2026, and expectations are sky-high.
