Amidst the whole lockdown situation for an year now, where the film industry across India has faced the biggest setback with shoots and release put to on hault, Window Productions’ most anticipated project ‘Lokkhi Chhele’ sees the light of the day at the the ‘RapidLion’ international film festival. Directed by National award winning director Kaushik Ganguly, the film stars a talented ensemble cast of Ujjan Ganguly, Churni Ganguly, Ambarish Bhattacharya, amongst others. Waiting to release for more than a year now, the film will finally be showcased at the international stage of South African International Film Festival. ‘Lokkhi Chhele’ also becomes the only Indian film to make it to this prestigious stage this year.
Having being selected to premiere at the festival even prior to its Indian release, the film has started it journey to create an impact. To be viewed by an international audience, the film is ready to tell the beautiful story and concept to a wider audience, filmmakers and marketers, a moment for which the makers have been eagerly waiting.
Revolving around the topics of superstitions, sociatel beliefs and struggle of humanity, Lokkhi Chhele is a simple yet strong film. Put together by the magicians of unconventional stories- Kaushik Ganguly and Windows Productions, the film is a story of a young doctor fighting the dark side of blind religious belief and it’s stubbornness to abolish inhuman practice. The story presents a beautiful amalgamation of human emotions and mindset.
Lokkhi Chhele is produced under one of the most prominent banners of Kolkata, Windows Production. Started by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, the banner has been in the business for over two decades now. Known for its quality production, the banner has produced films that premiered at acclaimed festivals like Cannes Film Festival. Eager to bring Lokkhi Chhele, the banner is awaiting to release it to the silver screen.
Incepted in 2015, The South African International Film Festival ‘RapidLion’, is one of its kind, that primarily focuses on featuring films from BRICS countries to wider audience and cinephiles. Held at The Historic Market Theatre every year, it’s a great opportunity for every artist to present their craft.
Excited to be a part of such an honoured stage, the lead actor of the film, Ujjan Ganguly expressed his excitement, stating, “Ujjan Ganguly- “It is a great blessing to be able to achieve such an honour so early in my career. ‘Lokkhi Chhele’ is an extremely special film, with a story that needs to be told and I am glad it is reaching a varied and wider audience with the premiere at RapidLion.”
Kaushik Ganguly shares, “Lokkhi Chele presents a deeper insight into the beliefs and ideologies of the society, which is a reflection of human behaviour across the globe. While we eagerly await its release in India, I am glad that the story is making its way to an international audience.”
