The Lion King received favorable response from viewers as well as most of the critics, which made it attract more audience in theaters over the weekend. This is not the first time when Indian audience showed more interest on Hollywood offering over Bollywood one.

In the opening weekend, Jon Favreau’s directorial did an excellent business of 50.75 crores nett from more than 1900 screens in India. The weekend total was including 11.06 crores of Friday, 19.15 crores of Saturday and 24.54 crores of Sunday. Then in weekdays, asusual it recorded lesser audience in theaters due to normal working days but still managed to garner good business.

On Monday, the movie faced almost 28.58% of drop than previous day and collected the amount of 7.90 crores. With slight more drops, it added the amount of 7.02 crores on Tuesday and 6.25 crores on Wednesday  and made its 6-days total collection as 75.92 crores from India.

This kind of hold does wonders for a film as you know that it is now set well for a very good second weekend as well. So far, the film seems to be on track for a lifetime of around 150 crores which would be fantastic. That would take it to the superhit/blockbuster zone.
