The makers of director Shankar’s much-awaited Indian 3, the third instalment in the popular Indian franchise starring Kamal Haasan, have unveiled a new poster, raising excitement among fans and film enthusiasts.
Lyca Productions, which is backing the film, shared the poster on social media on Thursday, featuring Kamal Haasan’s iconic character Senapathy. The production house captioned the post, “Senapathy is back with zero tolerance. The resurgence begins in #Indian3 War Mode.”
The latest update comes as post-production work on Indian 3 is reportedly in full swing. A substantial portion of the third film was shot alongside Indian 2, allowing the makers to continue work on the next chapter of the franchise without starting production from scratch.
The Indian franchise began in 1996 with Shankar’s Indian, which featured Kamal Haasan in the lead alongside Manisha Koirala and Urmila Matondkar. The vigilante drama went on to become a major commercial success and established itself as one of the notable films in Tamil cinema.
Following the success of the original, Shankar and Kamal Haasan eventually revisited the possibility of continuing Senapathy’s story. The sequel, Indian 2, was officially announced in 2017. However, the film went through several production setbacks and delays before finally reaching theatres in 2024.
With Indian 3 now moving through post-production, expectations are high for the next chapter of Senapathy’s story. The newly released poster, accompanied by the makers’ “War Mode” announcement, has further heightened anticipation for the film.
