Veteran actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75. The actor passed away on Thursday, October 8, after suffering a severe cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa.

According to a report, Nana Patekar was declared dead at 5:20 am despite nearly 45 minutes of continuous CPR. A medico-legal case has been registered, and a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.
Dr. Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, confirmed the news. He said that Patekar suffered a severe cardiac arrest and could not be revived despite prolonged CPR.
Nana Patekar’s film career
Nana Patekar began his acting career with the 1978 film Gaman. He went on to become one of the most respected actors in Hindi and Marathi cinema.
He gained wider recognition with films such as Salaam Bombay! and Parinda. His performance in Parinda earned him the National Film Award and the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.
Patekar also worked as a director. He directed and starred in Prahaar: The Final Attack, released in 1991. For the film, he underwent training with the Territorial Army.
Throughout his career, Patekar was known for his intense performances and distinctive acting style. He worked across a wide range of roles in both Hindi and Marathi films.
Nana Patekar’s last films
Patekar remained active in films until the final years of his career. His most recent released film was Subedaar, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video on March 5, 2026. He made a special appearance as Lance Naik Nana Waghmare.
Before Subedaar, he appeared in Vishal Bhardwaj’s O’Romeo, which released in theatres on February 13, 2026. He played Ismail Khan, the chief of the Mumbai Intelligence Bureau.
Nana Patekar’s death marks the end of a long and influential career in Indian cinema. He leaves behind a legacy of memorable performances across Hindi and Marathi films.
