Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-awaited Madhubala biopic is reportedly gearing up to go on floors in September, with Sara Arjun set to portray the legendary actress. The untitled project will be directed by Jasmeet K Reen, best known for Darlings.

According to a report by Mid-Day, Bhansali will shoot the final song of Love & War at Royal Palms next week. Once that schedule is completed, the same location will reportedly be transformed for the Madhubala biopic.
An industry insider revealed that the production design team will begin work on the location immediately after the Love & War schedule concludes.
“After the ‘Love & War’ shoot concludes at the end of August, the production design team of the Madhubala biopic will start work on transforming the space. The film is expected to roll in September.”
The project has been in development for some time and was reportedly put on hold earlier because of financial challenges. However, the film received fresh momentum after Bhansali came on board as a producer. Jasmeet K Reen, who made her directorial debut with Darlings in 2022, is attached to direct the biographical drama.
Meanwhile, Sara Arjun has begun preparing for the demanding role. The young actor, who has already worked in both Hindi and South Indian cinema, will take on the challenge of portraying one of Indian cinema’s most iconic stars.
The source added: “Sara has started preparing for the role. Jasmeet wants to capture Madhubala’s personality, mannerisms, and the world she inhabited.”
The makers are expected to focus not only on Madhubala’s extraordinary journey in Hindi cinema but also on recreating the period and atmosphere in which the actress rose to fame.
With production design preparations reportedly beginning at Royal Palms shortly, the Madhubala biopic could mark an ambitious new chapter in Sara Arjun’s career.
