Prasanth Varma’s Mahakali is gearing up for its first glimpse on August 24, 2026. Ahead of the announcement, a striking behind-the-scenes image featuring Akshaye Khanna from the film’s sets has offered a glimpse into the project’s elaborate visual world.
Akshaye Khanna is seen in an intense mythological avatar in the newly revealed picture. Sporting long grey hair, a flowing beard, a traditional forehead marking and an elaborate costume, the actor appears to have undergone a striking transformation for the film.
The image also captures a large-format cinema camera positioned in front of the actor, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the ambitious project. The elaborate costume, makeup and production design point towards the grand visual scale that the makers are aiming for with Mahakali.
Written, conceptualised and created by Prasanth Varma, Mahakali is directed by Puja Kolluru. The film stars Akshaye Khanna, Bhoomi Shetty and Rohit Saraf in key roles.
Presented by RK Duggal, Mahakali is produced by Riwaz Ramesh Duggal under the RKD Studios banner. The film is scheduled to arrive in theatres on January 8, 2027 in multiple languages.
