After nearly two decades, Shivam Pandit is back. Awarapan 2, directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the banner of Vishesh Films, continues the story of the 2007 cult favourite while taking the franchise into a new setting.
This time, the story moves from India to Bangkok, where Emraan Hashmi’s Shivam Pandit finds himself on a dangerous mission to rescue a little girl from human trafficking. The girl, whom Pandit had raised, is kidnapped from an orphanage. Her disappearance gives him a new purpose and pulls him back into the dark world he knows all too well—a world of crime, violence, betrayal and despair.
The sequel attempts to retain the emotional heart of the original while adding more action, revenge and redemption to the story.
Emraan Hashmi Is Back in His Element
The biggest strength of Awarapan 2 is undoubtedly Emraan Hashmi. As Shivam Pandit, Hashmi once again brings the right mix of intensity, vulnerability and restraint.
What works particularly well is that he doesn’t depend only on action sequences or powerful dialogues. His expressions often reveal what the character is feeling, allowing the audience to understand Pandit’s pain and inner conflict without excessive dialogue.

Moving the story to Bangkok is one of the sequel’s interesting choices. The city’s unfamiliar surroundings and underground crime world give Awarapan 2 a darker and more international feel.
The action sequences fit well with the film’s gritty atmosphere, while the location helps distinguish the sequel from the original. However, some action moments feel stretched and could have been tighter.
