Christmas is about to get a darker, more haunting twist as Johnny Depp steps into the iconic role of Ebenezer Scrooge in Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol. Paramount Pictures unveiled the film’s first trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, offering audiences a first look at an atmospheric new reimagining of Charles Dickens’ timeless classic.
With Depp bringing his distinctive screen presence to one of literature’s most legendary characters, the film reimagines the beloved tale of redemption, greed and hope through a visually stunning and emotionally powerful lens.
The trailer introduces viewers to Scrooge, a bitter and miserly man whose life takes an unexpected turn when he is visited by supernatural forces on Christmas Eve. As the past, present, and future collide, Scrooge is forced to confront the choices that have shaped his life and the consequences of the person he has become.
Directed by Ti West, the film stars Johnny Depp alongside Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Henry Lloyd-Hughes, Charlie Murphy, Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen. The screenplay is written by Nathaniel Halpern and is based on Charles Dickens’ beloved novella A Christmas Carol.
Produced by Paramount Pictures, Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol will release in cinemas across India in November 2026.
