Today is a big day for Bollywood fans! Just as you mentioned, director Rohit Shetty chose his birthday (March 14, 2026) to officially announce that the cameras are finally rolling for Golmaal 5. The franchise, which started 20 years ago with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, is returning for its fifth installment, and it’s bringing some massive surprises along with the “OG” gang.

After years of speculation, the fifth chapter of India’s most beloved comedy franchise is no longer just a rumor. Rohit Shetty has officially commenced the shoot in Mumbai, promising a “bigger and louder” cinematic experience.
The Iconic Cast & A Blockbuster Entry
The film reunites the legendary core team that fans have grown to love, while adding a powerhouse of talent to the mix:
- The OG Gang: Ajay Devgn (Gopal), Arshad Warsi (Madhav), Tusshar Kapoor (Lucky), Shreyas Talpade (Laxman), and Kunal Kemmu (Laxman).
- The Big Return: Sharman Joshi is officially back in the franchise! This marks his return to the Golmaal universe after nearly two decades, having last appeared in the first film in 2006.
- The Surprise Addition: In a move that has sent social media into a frenzy, Akshay Kumar has officially joined the cast. Sporting a bald look, black kurta, and dark sunglasses in the announcement video, Akshay is reportedly playing the lead antagonist—pitting his comedic timing against Ajay Devgn in a “Tom and Jerry” style rivalry.
This marks the first time Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar will face off in a full-fledged comedy, moving away from their shared “Cop Universe” action roles. With the “Khiladi” joining the “Golmaal” madness, this is shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of 2027.
