The much-anticipated sequel to Kalki 2898 AD has officially gone on floors in Hyderabad, marking the beginning of the next chapter in the ambitious sci-fi epic.

On February 24, Amitabh Bachchan took to his blog to explain his absence. Sharing pictures of fans gathered outside his home despite prior notice, he wrote, “told them that this Sunday I shall not be able to come, since I was shooting in Hyderabad .. but still they come .. to confirm .. … even this cute little fellow (dog),” alongside images showing a sea of admirers waiting to catch a glimpse of him.
One of the biggest highlights from the opening schedule is Bachchan reuniting with legendary actor Kamal Haasan. The two cinematic icons are sharing screen space again after nearly four decades, their last notable collaboration being in the 1985 film Geraftaar. Their reunion has already become one of the most talked-about aspects of the sequel.
Production for Kalki 2 has reportedly begun with crucial scenes featuring Bachchan and Haasan. Lead star Prabhas is expected to join the schedule soon as filming progresses. The sequel is set to expand the futuristic, mythological universe established in the first installment, which blended high-concept science fiction with elements drawn from Indian epics.
With production now underway in Hyderabad, anticipation is already building for what promises to be one of the biggest Indian cinematic events in the coming years.
