Actor Kubbra Sait, known for her fearless voice, takes center stage in the first episode of Love Lingo Season 2, where she dives into a candid conversation about identity, self-acceptance, and what it truly means to live beyond labels.

Hosted by Jas Sagu and Arsala Qureishi, the new season continues its exploration of love, language, and culture, and Kubbra’s fearless honesty has set the tone for the show. “Good girls don’t talk to boys. Good girls don’t wear lipstick. Good girls just listen,” Kubbra recalls of a message she once saw as a child. “But none of that exists in my life anymore. I’m not living by the Gregorian calendar, not by rules that tell me when to marry or when to be happy. I learned how to swim at 30, to dive into the open ocean — and that’s what freedom feels like.”
Much like Deepika Padukone’s powerful remark from the previous season, Kubbra too extends the dialogue on gendered expectations, inviting women everywhere to define life on their own terms.
During the conversation, Arsala Qureishi revisits Kubbra’s acclaimed portrayal of Kukoo in Sacred Games, a performance that broke barriers and redefined representation on screen. “No one comes to Mumbai thinking, ‘I’ll play a transgender role and get famous,’” Arsala said. “You did that and gave people who are transgender a sense of belief that they can be comfortable in who they are, and the world will still love them.”
Kubbra responded to this, saying, “I think Anurag wrote it so well”. “Nothing is created in isolation, only in collaboration. I was fortunate to be in the right place at the right time and to have the intuition not to say no.”
Reflecting on her collaboration with Kashyap and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, she added, “Imagine working with a recipe that includes Anurag Kashyap and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Can I say that I trust the people I’m working with as collaborators, as a culture of creativity? Yes. Great.”
From Sacred Games to Love Lingo, Kubbra Sait continues to inspire not just through her performances but through her evolving understanding of freedom and selfhood.
On the work front, Kubbra Sait will be next seen in Varun Dhawan and Mrunal Thakur starrer Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.
