In a major announcement, Yash Raj Films (YRF) has officially shifted the release date of its upcoming action entertainer Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh. The film, initially slated to hit theatres on December 25, 2025, will now release on April 17, 2026.

According to sources close to the production, the postponement is due to the film’s extensive VFX and post-production work. The makers reportedly need additional time to refine the visual effects and ensure the movie delivers a top-tier cinematic experience. A YRF spokesperson said the team is “leaving no stone unturned to present Alpha in its most spectacular form.”
Alpha marks a milestone for YRF as the first female-led installment in its blockbuster Spy Universe — a franchise that already includes hits like Ek Tha Tiger, War, and Pathaan. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh headline the film, while Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor are expected to play key supporting roles.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha promises high-octane action and a fresh narrative set within the espionage world that has become a signature of YRF’s universe. Industry insiders describe the film as a “gritty and emotional spy thriller” that will showcase Alia Bhatt in one of her most physically demanding roles to date.
The shift gives Alpha a solo release window in April 2026, avoiding clashes with other major December 2025 releases. It also ensures the production team can achieve the visual scale the studio is aiming for.
Fans, while disappointed by the delay, can expect a bigger and more polished spectacle when Alpha finally arrives in theatres next year.
