Thamma and EDKD 2nd day box office collection: The Diwali box office saw a significant clash between the horror-comedy ‘Thamma’ and the romantic drama ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’, with Ayushmann Khurrana’s film maintaining a strong lead on its second day (Wednesday).
The two films, released on Tuesday, attracted different audience segments. While ‘Thamma’ leveraged the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe’s popularity and a family-friendly appeal, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ relied on positive word-of-mouth and the fan following of its lead, Harshvardhan Rane.
Thamma, which made an impressive debut on Tuesday with Rs 25.11 crores, experienced a decline in its collections on Wednesday 2, bringing in Rs 19.23 crores. This brings the two-day total net collection for the horror-comedy to a formidable Rs 44.34 crore.
On the other hand, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat had a solid start with Rs 10.10 crores on Tuesday. The film saw a slight drop on Wednesday, bringing in Rs 8.88 crores, which gives it a total of Rs 18.98 crores in its first two days at the box office.
Collectively, both films have brought significant fireworks to the box office this Diwali season. While ‘Thamma‘ continues to lead the clash by a substantial margin, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ has emerged as a successful dark horse, outperforming expectations.
