After the heartfelt drama Uunchai (2022), veteran filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya is all set to return with a brand-new project — a romantic family entertainer that brings together Ayushmann Khurrana and Sharvari in the lead roles. Backed by Rajshri Productions, the film will be produced in collaboration with Mahaveer Jain Films and Anita Gurnani, and is slated to begin filming on November 1, 2025.
A source close to the development told Bollywood Hungama, “After Uunchai (2022), Sooraj Barjatya’s last film, Rajshri Productions has decided to join hands once again with Mahaveer Jain Films. Both Sooraj Barjatya and Mahaveer Jain had a wonderful time working with each other on Uunchai, and hence, they decided to collaborate once more for the upcoming film.”
Adding further, the source revealed, “The film goes on floors on November 1. It is a romantic family entertainer and would have the trademark Sooraj Barjatya stamp. Besides Ayushmann, it also stars Sharvari.”
Ayushmann Khurrana is reportedly stepping into a role modeled after the iconic “Prem” characters made famous by Salman Khan in Barjatya’s earlier hits. His casting marks a significant shift for the actor — from socially relevant dramas to a more wholesome, traditional family film space. Sharvari, one of Bollywood’s rising stars, will be seen opposite him in what promises to be a refreshing new on-screen pairing.
Filming is set to begin on November 1, with a theatrical release expected in the second half of 2026. While an official title is yet to be announced, industry buzz suggests the project could be one of the most anticipated family entertainers of the coming year.
